Top 10 Movies for Bridal Gowns
posted on August 08, 2011 04:30
I love movies, especially romance filled movies involving weddings and bridal gowns. There have been some amazing wedding gowns showcased in movies over the past 70 years and here are my 10 favorite:
1. 27 Dresses. This fantastic, humorous Katherine Heigl movie showcased two beautiful gowns. Both Malin Ackerman and Katherine Heigl's characters wear Amsale gowns in the movie.
2
. Sound of Music. Julie Andrew's gown in the movie looks amazing 50 years later!
3. When In Rome. This movie featured two very different gowns by Amsale. Kristen Bell wears Amsale's Tyler gown while her sister in the film wears Kenneth Pool's Ava gown.
4. Bride Wars. While I thoroughly disenjoyed this film, there's no denying the gowns were beautiful. Both Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway's gowns were by Vera Wang.
5. It Happened One Night. This 1934 film starring Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert featured a beautiful satin bias cut gown. What I really love about this look is the dramatic veil and how it floats about her feet.
6
. Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones. Surprised are you? I had completely forgotten about about the short wedding scene at the end of the movie between Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen but luckily stumbled upon pictures of the dress Natalie wore while researching films for this piece. How fantastic is the detailing in the headpiece?
7
. Funny Face. This 1957 Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire film featured a ballerina-esque tea lenth bridal gown.
8. High Society. Grace Kelley is the epitome of class and grace (pun not intended) and her embroidered wedding gown in High Society has an extremely flattering silhouette; similar to her actual wedding gown.
9
. Sabrina. Audrey Hepburn wore a Givenchy gown in this famous 1954 film. I love the black lace embellishments!
10. Father of the Bride. I prefer Kimberly Williams-Paisley's gown in the 1991 remake to Elizabeth Taylor's gown in the original. It's hard to go wrong with classic lace!
